Authorization Holds: Merchant authorization holds can differ from the final charge for example “fuel authorizations” and “tip tolerance”. Generally, holds are for 3 business days, reducing the available amount to spend on the card until the transaction settles.
Program Restrictions: Each program administrator can restrict the use of the card at specific merchant locations, for example, liquor stores, casinos, etc. based on the card program and subject use rules of the funding provider.
Cards can only be reloaded by the funding administrator. Cards are reloaded based on the individual program configurations. Third-party and cardholder reloads are not allowed.
Each program partner, district, and organization, has a policy regarding unspent funds, depending on the card program. Typically, any remaining funds are swept off the card upon the expiration date and returned to the funding account.
The expiration date is configured and set per the perimeters of each program. The expiration date is displayed on the card, and in the cardholder app and online portal.
